The
(RNZAF) Aviation Sports Club at Whenuapai Airfield
has offered us the use of their gliders and qualified
instructors.
The
club operates two seat gliders, which are towed
to a release height by a powered aircraft. With
a release height of 2000ft cadets can expect a
flight time of 15-20mins, and each flight will
include instruction suitable to the cadets training
level.
The
cost of a 2000ft tow is $50, which will be
payable
on the day.
The
Club also offers student membership ($7/yr), which
offers slightly reduced costs, and allows students
to arrange flying directly through the club. You
can download the membership form below.

Gliding
will be rostered for at least once a month (more
if required). We will put a sign-up list on the
Squadron notice-board and cadets can put their
names down for a slot. We anticipate being able
to have 12 cadets fly at each session; 8:30 –
12 noon. You can download the map below.

access is not through the main Base gate)
Please
note that flight times are variable and we’ll
ask you to be at the club in advance of your likely
flight time, this may mean that you have to wait
for a while.
Please
ensure that the Squadron has your email address
on file so that we can send you notifications,
and watch both the Notice Board and website for
further information.
