30th June - Change of Command Parade
Cadets
are to arrive at 6.30 sharp. Uniforms are to be
of the highest standard. This includes hair to
be tidy
and off the shoulders females hair in bun nets.
Remember
to Bring a change of clothes for activities following
parade and a plate of food.

ANZAC Day Parade
Held at
the East Coast Bays RSA, Bute Road, Browns Bay. Cadets
are to meet at 8am in uniform. Bring your named
jersey just in case.

29 February
- 2 March Basic Building Camp
This is
the first year cadets first camp. Held at the
Squadron HQ this is an important camp that prepares
the cadets for our future camps and activities.
15-17 February
Pinnacles Prof and Adv Tramp
Tramp to
the Pinnacles in Thames. Great tramp with some
amazing views. Cadets traveled down by bus on
the Friday night and tramped up to the Pinnacles. Swimming
at Hofmans Pool on the Sunday was a nice way to
finish the weekend.
4 February First
Parade Night for 2008
Welcome
back to our cadets and welcome to our new cadets
for 2008. You need to be at the HQ at 6:30pm. If
you are new to the Squadron or looking to join
you will need to attend in School Uniform with
paper and pen. Officers and the Committee will
be available to talk to parents at 7:15pm after
Parade.

10 December
Cadets Night
Fun night
for cadets. No uniform required. Games, and
movie to finish the year off. The Squadron provided
softdrinks and snacks
3 December
Final Parade, Award night and Promotions
Held at
the Squadron this Parade ecognised the work and
endeavours of the cadets. All parents were invited
to attend. This Parade was also the Change of
Command Parade. PLTOFF Andrew Judge took over
the role of Cadet Unit Commander and FLTLT Nick
Epsom takes the role of Executive Officer.
13 November
Squadron Dine In
This year
the Dine In was at the ECBRSA. There were 142
people in attendance. A very enjoyable evening
where the cadets were able to experience a fromal
dining in following Air Force etiquette.
20-22
October LABOUR WEEKEND CAMP
Unfortunately
due to the weather we and calving on the farm
we go to this camp was cancelled. All flights
will have other activities scheduled over the
coming weeks though. Proficiency Flight and Advance
Flight have activities planned for the weekend
9-11 November.

16 Sept
Battle of Britain Parade
Parade
held at the Auckland Memorial Museum for all the
Auckland Squadrons. All cadets are expected to
attend this Parade.
7-9 Sept
Squadron Building Camp
This camp
is for the entire Squadron and is held down at
the HQ. The Sea Cadets and Cadet Corps have been
invited to attend. This is a catered camp and
has some interesting activities to challenge and
build teamwork.
26 August
Eden Roskil Shoot
6 SQN defends
the trophy for target shooting in the Auckland
ATC region. Good luck to the team.
17-19 August
Prof and Adv Winter Tramp
The Squadron
river crossing training camp. Held in Waitawheta,
the cadets go down on Friday night and then tramp
in on the Saturday. The cadets cross the river
seven times and complete a pack float. It is
an enjoyable tramp.

7 July
Brass Band Nationals March - Takapuna
Our Squadron
was asked to provide cadets for this competition. The
cadets marched with banners with the different
bands names on them. There were 27 bands in this
competition. The cadets looked very smart and
represented the SQN well.
23-24 June
Basic Introduction Tramp (postponed until first
weekend of 2nd term)
Basic Flights
first tramp with the Squadron. Held in the Waitakere's
this camp introduced the new cadets to bush travel
and skills. Orienteering and First Aid was also
covered in the weekends training. A successful
camp held at the Barn SIte this year.
16 June
Basic Training Day
This was
the first opportunity for Basic Flight Cadets
to have a shoot after completing their tests. The
day also included a mud run at RNZAF Base Auckland,
Hobsonville. There were some good results from
the days shoot and we hope to see some cadets
on the shooting teams soon.
10 June
ECBRSA Sports Day
Sports
Day put on by the East Coast Bays RSA. This activity
was mainly for Basic Flight but other cadets attended.
The afternoon was held at the RSA included pool,
darts and indoor bowls. The RSA put on soft drinks
and chips for the cadets. A fun afternoon on
a rainy day.
9 June
DMT Drill Competition
Drill competition
held at RNZAF Base Auckland, Hobsonville for a
team of cadets from the Squadron to compete against
the other Auckland ATC units. 6 SQN came 3rd
this year and put together a effective routine
with some snappy drill demonstrated. Well done
to the team.
1-4 June
Whangaporoa Camp
This camp
is for Prof and above and was held over the Queens
Birthday weekend. Activities included a day exercise,
navigation, abseiling and target shooting. A
very enjoyable camp. The camp went very well
and included the Navy obsticle course on the Monday.
18-20 May
Advanced and NCO Tramp - Mt Tongariro
This tramp
went very well arriving on the Friday night and
a nice clear day on the Saturday. The hut was
full (incl our group of 15). The Blue and Emerald
lakes were spectacular and the photos are in the
gallery.
6 May ATC
Sports Day
Held at
Mt Roskil Boys Grammar School this is a competition
between all the Auckland ATC Squadrons. Cadets
participate in Soccer and Volleyball in the morning,
and Touch Rugby and Non stop Cricket in the afternoon. Cadets
need to meet at the school gym at 8:30 and can
be picked up at 4:30pm. There will be a sausage
sizzle so bring some money or bring a cut lunch. SQN
T-shirt is to be worn ($15 on the day), or a dark
blue shirt.
25 April
ANZAC Day Parade
The Squadron
participated in the Dawn and Civic Parades held
at the Browns Bay Cenotaph. We also provided
the Cenotaph Guard at the Takapuna Cenotaph for
the Civic Parade. All Cadets were expected to
attend as part of their community service. A
very good turn out with 72 cadets involved. Well
done for supporting the RSA.
18 April
Poppy Day Collection
The Squadron
supported the East Coast Bays RSA with their Pappy
Day collection in Browns Bay and Albany. A good
number of cadets attended throughout the day.
31 March
- 1 April First Term Squadron Camp
This camp
was for the entire Squadron. The camp was held
at Camp Maynard in Albany. Activities included
confidence course, orienteering, canoeing, leadership. The
Advanced Flight were able to go for a flight in
a Devon aircraft at Dairy Flat Air Field. This
camp reinforced what the first year cadets learnt
on their Basic Building Camp.
16-18 March
Basic Building Camp
This is
the first camp for the new cadets held at the
Squadron HQ in Devonport. Cadets arrived on the
Friday night and took part in Leadership, team
building, and bush craft skills. The instruction
focused on preparation for the upcoming Squadron
Camp at the end of the month. Cadets were accommodated
in Air Force tents. PHOTOS now in gallery!
16-18 Feb
Prof/Adv Pinnacles Tramp
Tramp for
the Advanced and Proficiency Flights to the Pinnacles
in Thames Valley. Very good attendance and an
enjoyable tramp. Arrived on the Friday night
and camped in the valley. Saturday morning the
cadets tramped to the Pinnacles Hut. A bit cloudy
but still worth the view. Hoffman's Pool on
the Sunday is always a highlight. Photos now in

5 Feb.
First Parade 2007 - 9a Achilles Ave, Devonport
Arrive 6:30pm
New cadets
welcomed for the new training year. There was
about 40 new interested cadets at this parade
and made a total of around 80 on parade.
2-3 Feb.
NCO Training Days
Training
in the new Drill Rifle and final planning for
the first term for NCO's. This was a most productive
weekend and set the Squadron up for the start
of the year.
